Gift-wrapped bomb explodes in Taguig City

MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE) – A gift-wrapped bomb exploded inside one of the houses in a subdivision Wednesday morning in Taguig City, leaving a woman dead.

Police said the explosion occurred at Block 10 Lot 21 Mahogany Place 3 in Barangay Bambang around 10:30 a.m..

Senior Police Officer 3 Cesar Binarao of the police mobile group the Southern Police District identified the fatality as Yvonne Chua, 31.

Police Officer 3 Jansen Ramon of the Tactical Operations Center said the gift came from an unknown sender from Parañaque City.

He said the gift exploded while the woman was opening it.

Chua was with her husband and a 7-year-old son when the explosion happened. The husband and the boy survived the blast.
